I'm curious to know if this is an iOS only issue. It seems to me that any device that remembers past SSIDs would look for them actively. That way the user gets on their preferred network whenever it's available. Then anyone with access to a

This certainly sounds like a bug in their Android app and not a malicious thing that they did. Path is headed up by some smart people. I have a hard time believing that they would willing blast out texts to everyone in an address book consi

Oh I don't know about that. One of the great things about using a Mac is that you get a POSIX compliant operating system without having to mess with things too much. At the very least Ubuntu is not the way you want to go. The Linux environm

Another +1 for Chocolat. I made the choice between this and Sublime and really like Chocolat. Besides, what does one really use the minimap for anyways?

Maybe HTC, Samsung, Nokia et al have come so far in the last five years because they had no choice. If you look at Android phones from 5 years ago, they were mostly shit. The original iPhone was a huge departure from where mobile phones sat

A lot of those websites scan your address book and show you people that are already on the site and then ask you to send emails to people who aren't. It's reasonable to not know that 11,000 people would be on linked in. Also Linkedin isn't

Obvious troll is unbelievably obvious. Go ahead and give me something that Samsung innovated, in a vacuum, without looking at other products and without help from Google.

And this is why I don't deal with business majors or anyone else at school who has the greatest idea for the so-called "next big thing", but has no idea how the technology would work.

Sure it is, so long as you've remembered to fill Instapaper or Pocket with stories from the newspaper's website that you wanted to read. If you ran out the door without having time to peruse the stories on the internet this morning Instapap

Sorry. Have you see the source code of any part of the iOS system? No I don't think you have. Give me some reference to somewhere that the UI thread hangs. Not blocking the UI is taught to everyone who writes apps for the app store, so my a

Sure making a phone call or sending out a message is all that you need to do in an emergency. But that's not what the cell phone is for anymore. Back when batteries lasted 3-4 days on a charge they were there for when you needed them. Now p

A frogpad like keyboard isn't exactly what I was referring to. Maybe I should have clarified in the article, but I meant the kind that strap on to your hand. With advances in technology it could be easy to make that smaller and less obtrus

This article doesn't argue that Pinch-to-zoom should be patentable... This article is talking about the actual patent that was infringed upon, which you noticed in the beginning of your comment. Did HN show prior art that invalidates the pa

The great part about consumer is that they can say things like that all they want, but when the newest, coolest gadget rolls off the assembly line, they're buying one. Consumers don't know what they want, they have to be told what they want

My views on this front have always been the same as this article. If you're really going to commit to building an application for a platform, take the time and learn to do it correctly. Yes you could do it faster in a language that you're m

This again? Really? The main improvement in this version is that it was rewritten for iOS, it didn't need to be rewritten for Android. Whether or not you have more marketshare doesn't mean you need an update for a platform you're not on.

Given the reaction to any small UI update Facebook has rolled out since people began using the site has be pretty bad, maybe it's better that it takes more time to roll the changes out.

Who says Facebook needs to be like Apple? No one is arguing that Facebook needs to change or make their UI better than it was or that it was even a feature they cared about. The issue was the experience delivered by the client they had out,

There's a trial for the Mac version, I recommend it highly. The iOS version is cheaper than the Mac version if that floats your boat a little more. I won't try to imagine a world where I would pay $50 dollars for every app that I use but I
