Please, the day that Apple loses market share because the phone looks the same as the old phone is the day pigs fly. The phone will sell. Personally I love the newer design. Sales of the iPhone 4 and the 4S have shown that the form factor w

But none of those comments are going to the app store, all of them are going to twitter or facebook. None of the social integrations should affect anyone that isn't using the services already.

That's true but turning them off if they're on is still a switch away. Why are you angry about the integration in Mountain Lion and iOS 6 if you don't have the accounts? Do you think that they should have focused on something else?

Calling anything mandatory about computers in this day and age is laughable at best. Social networking is baked into the operating system for a reason. It's there, you don't have to use it, but you can if you'd like. It's there because we a

Picking which operating system to use enhances lock in by itself already. I've bought software both inside and outside of the mac app store and since I have that software I'm locked in to the program. If I could move all my applications to

Yes, the codes for the GM should automatically be translated into codes for the release version. If you have the GM build installed then you should get the first update to 10.8.1 the same way that the rest of us do.

My take on skeuomorphism has always been ambivalent. Unless the interface really takes away from your productivity, and having to click one or two extra buttons doesn't count, then it's alright by me. Anyone complaining about the visual asp

Right there with you. Sparrow is effectively done now. Gmail itself doesn't need the improvements, the clients need to improve, which won't happen if they join the gmail team.

Not this is on the topic of the article, but there are no early adopters of Mountain Lion. There are developers using beta software and people who aren't developers that want to use beta software. To be honest I hate the term "power user".

To toss my hat into the "i haven't had any problems so no one had any problems" ring, I've only seen on kernel panic and that was because I had just put some bad memory in. Lion's gotten way better, make sure you do all the updates and you

Of course we can come up with UIs that don't mimic the old school ways of doing things, we had them. Skeuomorphism is absolutely purely about design choices. The bookmark thing is a bookmark, and it works like one. It saves your place on a

I have so many issues with this post I barely even want to respond. The movement is dumb, plain and simple. The idea that anyone is going to boycott apple because some android users on google plus started a "movement" is ridiculous. The onl

Yeah, Labels come across as folders if you try and access them in anything that isn't made specifically to handle them. It makes it a huge pain when you have more than one label because things could wind up where you don't want them to be o

You're correct. UIWebView doesn't get the better rendering engine but I was reffering to this point: "The limitation is even put in place for native web apps, the ones you see inside Safari itself. As long as you see them in Safari they wor

Apple isn't limiting Google Chrome only, this is the restriction that they've put on apps in the store. Whether you agree or disagree is up to you. Perhaps the restriction is there to encourage developers to create real native applications

Split panes are actually beautifully easy. You just select both files that you want in the sidebar (command-I) and they show up. To change the individual file you can click on the name in the bottom of the window. The bigger find for me was

For all of the innovation that Android claims to have going for it, is this Feel UX really the best that you can do? Honestly this is barely changed from the default android UI. You repackaged the widgets so they're on their own page which

I think the problem is that they moved that setting. It used to be in the Sounds section where you would turn the alert on and off all together and then repeating was in a different context.

To be fair, repeat once means repeat once. That's exactly what it says and so its what the setting does. It might help if they added a note in smaller text like they do for other settings.

This is big but unfortunately I don't see it solving a main problem. Lots of apps in the app store are merely repackaged web browsers. Although this is prohibited (I think) by the app store guidelines they're in there anyways. They don't ge
