It’s easier to connect without looking (driving while keeping eyes on road or in the dark). Feels more robust (as others mention), it’s harder to break the lightning connector on the phone side (where it matters and costs the most).

It doesn't solve a real problem, it solves an academic problem. I believe this is why a lot of people fall for the blockchain trap, it's interesting on an academic level, so they come to the conclusion that there must be value in

Is this path still actually viable for HCOL areas? I remember having a conversation with a real estate developer in SF in 2021. They said that this used to be the path to owning in places like SF, but that it’s no longer a viable option.
