This is interesting enough but describing it as "a JavaScript cloud scripting language" just makes me think their marketing person is throwing the word "cloud" in at random points.

Feature request: it would be nice to have permalinks (even if they were really messy URLs) to filter-sets so that I can share the slice of the benchmarks I'm looking at with people, without having to list the filters manually.

The money quote is this: "Google's recent announcement encouraged us to deploy our network more aggressively now. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, we’re ready to compete." Which sounds nice except, if you were ready to compete, why weren't y

I think the simpler alternative is that it's just not a very interesting story. A game company trying to cover their asses for a bad launch of an unpopular design lied their asses off. So what? They seem to have got the server issues under

My non-rigorous impression is that latency is roughly the same now as it was in 2010, i.e. not great, but at least it hasn't been getting worse.

This is the really important takeaway of this piece: "AT&T just admitted that they'll offer better service if there's real competition, so how do we make sure there's real competition?" AT&T and the others have been claiming for yea

You go to http://status.twitter.com/ , which is powered by Tumblr which, in one of my favourite bits of Internet insanity, uses Twitter for status announcements: https://twitter.com/tumblr (there is a status.tumblr.com but it's blank).

Yeah, that's fair. There's some grey area though -- like, if you accidentally delete a file on your site, your server will return 400. How is the server supposed to know it's accidental? So it's accurate (the user has requested a file that

This is one of those perennial problems: if you're spending engineering time making your "we're down" screen look good, you're really optimizing for the wrong thing, but on the other hand, some downtime is unavoidable and you don't want to

I'm honestly really surprised to hear that anybody thinks there is still stigma attached to online dating. I don't know what it's like for straight people, but online dating definitely has zero stigma for gay folks. I mean, compared to Grin

I think one of the core assumptions underlying people who adopt Bitcoin is "Inflation is bad". I'm no economist, but I don't think this is always the case. Currencies being able to rise and fall relative to each other allows governments to

This sort of fake-loader animated GIF is pretty common; it's just a slightly more advanced version of a spinner GIF. I don't think it's really that bad. What would be bad is if this page would accept a parameter to redirect you to somewhe
