The universal menu bar approach was taken in Netbook Remix, whether it remains in desktop Unity will be interesting to see.

Everything I've heard about the Zune HD (the only pure CE 6 device I'm aware of) is positive. Maybe you're getting confused with Windows Mobile 6.5, which is based on an older version. Besides, Windows 7 is of unquestionably better quality

HTC Sense shows missed call & SMS notifications on the lock screen. I've found it to be an ideal notification experience, personally. Spam is a problem best solved by removing the offending app. It's not like they can't do worse things

The 66% ratio is something of a meme in Reddit meta-discussion, and has been for a year or more. (As are complaints of 'why would anyone downvote this'.)

Windows (may even be the USB specification itself) will not deliver more than X mA to a device unless a driver is installed to request > X mA OS X obviously is aware of iDevices so it charges without you knowing any wiser. Windows needs

The server versions of Windows allow that, it's called Remote Desktop Services (or Terminal Services pre-2008). Way better than using VNC, probably because it hooks all the window control drawing on the server and does it on the client inst

It's one way to look at it. I'm used to the behavior of the scroll wheel, and also the scroll keys - moving the cursor down will necessarily move the underlying page up to keep it visible, so that equates to 'scrolling down' in my mind. Thi

It's worse than that. One finger dragged up moves the cursor up, two fingers dragged up scrolls the window... down? Is it really sensible to be internally inconsistent? It also runs counter to scroll wheels on mice, which has a physical rea

I know at least 2 such Apple customers. It's an Apple, it's good enough, and that's all that matters to them; specs are the last things they care about.

What's interesting in this case, compared to Mac vs. PC, is how the roles have changed - and I don't mean "Apple is on top", either. On the desktop, the OS that ran on commodity hardware was the dominant force, even though there was no 'dom

Once a hacker, always a hacker. For some people knowing the ways you can tweak something makes it quite hard to stop yourself doing it. Sure, he could dump Ubuntu on his computer, but he knows how to poke around and change the settings to g
