This seems to be a thing with weather models more generally. Somewhat relatedly, I've spent quite a bit of time evaluating weather models for use in India and Africa, and while predictions are easy to find, validation results for the p

What makes you interpret it as a risk premium? My sense is it's mostly driven by demand growing ahead of supply, and barriers existing to the supply expanding (which is partly because of the value of experience, which takes time to bui

Since we're doing book recommendations :) I thought "The Invisible Hook: The Hidden Economics of Pirates" [1] was a fun read as well. [1] https://www.amazon.com/Invisible-Hook-Hidden-Economics-Pirat...

As a Dutch person I learned some Swedish and some German (both not very well, but enough to go around) and I found Swedish significantly easier. It feels more similar to Dutch/English in terms of grammar and flow. Just one data point,

What a strange post - the name is not right, so it's unlaunched. No indication of a new name? Am I supposed to conclude that the whole product is canceled for now? If that's the case it seems unlikely that the naming error is the

Funny to see it rubbed so many people the wrong way. It actually stood out in a positive way to me, I read it as “we want people who bring projects to the finish line, including if they are challenging”. The reason I would see it as a posit

I recently started experiencing this for the first time, earlier I believed the same you do. It’s funny reading the thread here because it echoes a lot of my experiences - what made the difference was seeing it as “I’m going for a walk but

I’m very curious which culture that is, if you wouldn’t mind sharing. I tend to take some liberties when it comes to interrupting but am aware that it’s not always appreciated. Still I often find it crucial in order to keep information flow

What you mention as “the fun part” does sound pretty interesting. Sounds like you’re contracting/consulting? Any advice on finding assignments in the field? (For someone with a DS + non-civil engineering background)

This would be interesting to get some more context on - were you dishonorably discharged because you were critical of what was going on in your lab? I’m not sure what you’re saying about the masters, you had that already or your experience
