It would be nice to combine such a project with a Linux emulator like http://s-macke.github.io/jor1k/demos/compile.html Of course the total loading time for the website would increase. But if use such a website yo

As the developer of jor1k I agree. You should also mention https://github.com/copy/v86 , which is constantly developed.

Since I played "Kennedy Approach" on the C64 I dream of such a voice recognition ATC simulator. I have planned to program my own with such a limited vocabulary since more than 10 years. Well, in my next live then.

Put it this way. We have only one earth and we are extremely limited to a certain external conditions like temperature, pressure, atmosphere composition, soil, water, .... The climate is a non-linear chaotic model and no one really knows wh

When I see such a tutorial I am always thinking of those online Linux emulators. You can write tutorials for such terminal programs and use those emulators for real examples.

I am still fascinated by the sheer number of RISC CPUs out there. But more amazing than this is their similarity. I think we should develop a new (abstract) RISC CPU which combines all in one architecture :-) . Joking apart, as a developer

Not yet. But when shared memory arrays become available in Javascript it will be useful. But take a look here: http://s-macke.github.io/jor1k/compile.html So you can use it in a C programming course for SMP systems. Op

Just some technical details: The cores are emulated in one worker thread because shared memory in threads is still not supported by the engines. You can use "htop" to see the cores at work. You can run a multithreaded fractal gen

Thanks, found a helpful link: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/16071211/using-transferab... Is this a standard, that you can share a buffer? Will it work in all browsers?

Nice explanation. I had some similar problems with my project found here: http://simulationcorner.net/Sidplayer/index.html In the end I had to use the queuing of AudioBufferSourceNodes as explained. In Chrome I could u

Thanks for the nice description! For my small Linux emulator I put the link in the Wiki after "Destroy the system" :) https://github.com/s-macke/jor1k/wiki/Explore-the-emulator#r... The system runs

No, I don't use requestAnimationFrame right now. I think when I wrote it, it was not supported by IE. But can't remember. I calculate as close as the machine can but with a window.setTimeout(Update, 0); in order to be responsive.

Don't know. But here some possibilities: 1. No fullscreen 2. I update the screen only if a key is pressed.(No rain, that has to be rendered all the time) 3. I don't use any costly canvas functions. I render everything myself in a

You describe a very abstract type of a synapse. Nature is more complex than this. I think it's just a definition problem. What do we mean with modeling a brain? Is it the same like modeling a neuronal network? On which level do we defi

Well, of course. I would suggest paq8l ;) I think you can store very efficiently. A neuron or synapse has a huge error rate. So, saving parameters of the synapse as 4 byte floating point number could be overkill. Connection information coul

I am not sure, but after looking at their sites they probably mean images. So, a synapse in a let's say high resolution jpeg will need much more memory than my abstract definition of a synapse.

What is your guess about the amount of memory needed to save a human brain. I mean all necessary information to save the personality. The article mentions 98,000 petabytes. But does this contain everything? In Wolfram alpha and Wikipedia yo

Well, I think it is part of the table. http://codebase64.org/doku.php?id=base:fast_8bit_multiplicat... But the C64 had also a shifting operation.

This reminds of another trick on the C64 to multiply two 8 Bit numbers a*b = [ ((a+b)/2)^2 - ((a-b)/2)^2 ] more or less: one 8 bit additon, one 8 bit subtraction, two table lookups for the squares and one 16 bit subtraction.

I think it is possible to get exactly 64Kb - 2 byte. The first two byte should not be written randomly as they tell the system whether it should include the ROM or not. If you use interrupts then the top few bytes (2 or 4 bytes, can't
