Not a bad idea, sometimes all it takes a reminder to the customer to get paid. But 20% is a steep fee to pay for picking up the phone and making a call. Especially on 10k+ invoices which are common with consulting. If only there was a slid

Not deeply understanding copy on write[1] semantics for virtual memory paging and designing application servers seems just foolish. I'll chalk this one up to the PR/marketing person probably not taking an OS course. Still it would

If Uber can break the Vegas cab cartel[1] it would be very surprising to me. So far the cab companies have been able to survive everything, they've even prevented the monorail from going to the airport. Which if it did go to the airp

Being a bit naive about Tor, what is there to prevent an exit node operator from doing some transparent traffic manipulation and injecting tracking pixels into non HTTPs webpages? Or playing silly games like flipping all jpegs upside down?

Lets look at how envy drives some entire businesses: 1. Instagram - completely based around lifestyle envy and like count. 2. Pinterest - envy my "good" taste 3. Facebook - envy my life and my baby 4. Twitter - envy my wit and fol

If you asked 10 average people what they think "airborne" means in this context, I doubt they'd say there is a difference between wet and dry transmission. I'd say for the purposes of argument, if a guy coughs violently

To borrow an idea from math, "doing good" isn't a commutative, infections and diseases are. Have some respect for others and slow your roll before going out during the 21 day post exposure window. It's a bit like saying

It is not really all that hard to create all of the combinations for various ads. You can cache the optical flow[1] analysis of the source video. The optical flow won't change since it is determined by the source video. Then you lay

Whenever I read about new renderers I think I'm completely intellectually inept even with what I think is a reasonably well-rounded computer science education. It is like reading about string theory in a way. Sure, I can grasp the con

There is a common refrain about trading strategies or algorithms, if it worked people wouldn't be talking about it. They'd be too busy exploiting the opportunity to blog about how they're making money. And least of all would

"A reputation based economy is what we're moving towards", we should be resistant to that. I think it would be fair to say a "reputation based economy" is a synonym for crony capitalism -- I'll only do business

This is pretty neat from a technical standpoint. I've used MadMapper before and it was kind of a pain to setup to use to do projection mapping. First you had to hand map each section of the object you're mapping the texture onto.

The only reliable way I've found for Android to be supported for streaming is using RTSP. Typically, you'd push a RTMP stream to a CDN that will transcode it to RTSP. Scale Engine is a good CDN that offers this service via Wowza.

Determine the demand for your product and price your solution right below the point where people will think you're charging too much, such that they would continue to use the old way of doing things. The finding of that price is hard.
