Yeah I'm on an iMac Pro (which is the same display as the 27" iMacs) as my main display at its pretty glorious with 218 PPI. My older 34" ultra wide next to it is really showing its age, both in terms of overall quality and 1

Now if only someone made a 34” ultra wide with 120Hz+. In particular one with 5120 x 2160 resolution. Maybe in 2022 at the rate high hertz monitors are coming for non-gaming uses...

I'm sure all this complexity makes sense for all sorts of reasons buried in the history of Kubernetes development at Google. "Things are the way they are because they got that way." The fact that so many other orgs, many of w

Exactly this. A lot of the conversation here is missing a key point of these hosting debates: context is _everything_.

As opposed to your neighbors just hold your packages at their place, and you grab them when you get back home? Heck in pre-covid times, that would give you a nice little opportunity to say hi and have a chat with a neighbor. The failure mod

What do you mean by "no delay" ? If you mean the delay between asking Siri to 'play music' and music to start, that is annoying and should be fixed by Apple engineers at some point. Siri is just way too slow on the Homep

Yeah I'd imagine its entirely because they wanted to keep the form factor the same as the old Macs, and changing the camera will require a full redesign.

I had my Ruby on Rails / node dev env setup within a couple hours - the only weird thing was Redis (via Rosetta) had to run as root for some reason.

My Air hasn’t gotten warm yet and I’ve been trying to really hammer it while I’ve been setting up my dev env and running benchmarks. I have not tried Civ 6 late game benchmarks yet tho ;)

Yeah so far the performance is very close to my 10 core iMac Pro I use for day to day development. This is on a MacBook Air with no fan, and so far I haven't felt the machine even get warm even when compiling _and_ also running tests o

I think there is a huge difference in these two things: * I can’t work because a 3rd party we use for code hosting / dep management is down * I can’t work because my laptop literally can’t run any programs due to a poor security progr
