Because we don't perceive time logarithmically. 10 sec compression is 10 times worse than 100 sec compression. So looking at the first chart, lpaq9i and durilca4linux points are right next to each other, while in realty durilca4linux i

The charts are horrible 1) The y-axis (time) is logarithmic, while the x-axis(size) is linear. 2) The x-axis begins at 1000, which makes it seem like there's a huge size difference between the slowest programs, which isn't true.

1) Just because something is down percent-wise, doesn't mean it's actually in a decline. It's possible the overall numbers grew a lot. 2) This visualization is bad.

1) If I ever make a mistake of that magnitude, I will accept any level of criticism, in any way shape or form. 2) I will never implement a crypto system that lives depend on without fully understanding it.

Why should we be polite to a person who endangered people who relied on his expertise? He had one task (that he chose), that task was extremely sensitive and had to be implemented correctly. He failed. Shaming and ridicule is the least he d

People relied on crypto.cat, some probably with their lives. Who gives a crap about hurt feelings of the author who failed at crypto for so long, while advertising it as secure?

How is this "a lot about himself"? It's very short, he states his situation, and his position. He clearly says "Their purpose is to frighten, not me, but those who would come after me." and then talks about Bradley

It deeply saddens me that a tiny tiny percentage of the population can really fuck up the lives of everyone - financially, socially, politically, religiously. The real problem is in how we set up the governments. We give to much power to a

While GPS works nearly everywhere, there's no simple affordable system to transmit your location. Oceans are huge, and even sattelite transmitters don't cover everything. Example: http://www.gpstrackersandmore.com/

I wish that app shared the state with some central server and you could always start with the "best evolved" state. It would also be nice if the designs could be more complex, and not just a random star-shaped polygon + two wheels

Data-backed estimation is completely different from random guesses you will make during an interview. Not only that, even if your guesses are decent, multiplying them can drive you orders of magnitude in the wrong direction.

The problem is, the interviewers often judge how accurate your estimation is, and not the fact that you know (the highly flawed) Drake Equation. These estimates are completely useless in real life, because in real life nobody guesses how ma
