Do you really think regular users will do anything remotely close to this? Based on my interactions with normal/regular users, the chance for this to happen at any meaningful scale is zero (0)

They are not blocking them indefinitely (or at all). I think it's not correct to even call this "blocking". Basically they are mitm-ing to factually explain the situation at hand and then they offer the users to go-ahead with

Patreon takes 5% according to https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/204606125-How-... I don't think 5% is unreasonable for what they offer. It seems fitting.

People that like this article might be interested in 'Visual Complex Analysis' by Tristan Needham. It's (IMHO) a rare book of collections of "concrete" analogies for complex analysis.

This is incorrect, at least on 9550 / 9560. It's extremely easy to upgrade both of them, just open the back without even fully disassembling the machine.

This is a very underrated comment: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18055053 I've came to this conclusion on my own years ago. I wholeheartedly agree that there are books whose authors don't understand the sub

Here's another "not sure if correct proof": Jordan's theorem! Seemingly "evident" result, extremely difficult to prove in some cases (e.g. continuous, nowhere differentiable function etc.)

After reading both to some extent (but Schopenhauer in great depth), IMHO Nietzsche is just wanna-be Schopenhauer. He even admits this in an essay dedicated to Schopenhauer IIRC! He was a weird person, just like the article portraits him to

I recommend reading "The Man Who Knew Infinity". It's really devastating the way he died. It seems that a lot of math geniuses died premature. Eisenstein, Abel, Galois, Riemann.. I've read some of his work.. there are fo

Idempotent is concept borrowed from mathematics. It just means: f(f(x))=x assuming f is a function (binary operators are just functions (maps) in mathematics, too, e.g. +:NxN->N (read: "plus" is a map from the Cartesian product

Have you been doing TRE in 8 hour intervals? There was a study on this as well, and it turns out a lot of people simply think they are doing TRE, but once they start writing down exactly what they eat and exactly when, turns out it's f

According to the author, with 7 hours of quality sleep, you are still sleep deprived; after 24 days, you would be sleep deprived in amount equivalent to someone not sleeping 1 full night.
