True. It's a balancing act but often times goes way too far and hurts innocent people. One of the most memorable examples: https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/sdge-worker-fired-ove... I don't think

Had a similar experience with Discord. Absolutely impossible to just get in touch with someone that can fix a problem. Friend of mine had their account hacked and it was actively spreading the virus to other users. It has been 2 months an

I think its certainly a matter of when, not if robo-cars are capable of driving as good as/better than human. Sooner, rather than later too. That said, totally agree. SF seems like the worst place to pilot this, for so many reasons.

Don't forget the trash trucks setting down dumpsters. Not that I blame them, no other way really but gave me a heart attack every time.

Why do people take such low pay for making sandwiches? Genuine question, because doesn't that just lower wages for everyone and sorta peg the value of a sandwich maker to being $X/hr?

The DC metro is also used by lots of "elite" types. The problem is nobody does anything because nobody else cares enough, tbh. Nobody cares enough to call the police because they know the police won't do anything. The police

Not OP, my issue with public transport is mostly the "public" part. At least on the DC metro, its not uncommon to see people getting harassed and MPD doing nothing about it. I've personally seen a drunk man pissing in the c

I haven't seen too much of an effect on remote salaries. I only really see the difference for really high profile jobs or jobs in places like SF or Seattle where cost of living is insane so they have to comp you for that. All the remo

Community College is awesome and should be encouraged more. Too many people seem to fall prey to these "resort-style" universities where the education quality might be marginally better but not worth the 2-4x price difference.

Unfortunate but I also like the idea of taxis more. What I would love more than anything is little box type vans that can transport you all the way from coast to coast. I know that's a long ways away but still fun to think about. Als

Not terribly on topic but I truly don't understand how people can smoke unless it's just a genetics thing? Smoke smells and tastes awful. I know the addiction is pretty much the answer but I don't get how people don't h

Exactly. I don't know why people seem to sleep on hybrid. Some days going into the office works better, other days WFH is better. If we just finished scoping out a project and I have dozens of programming hours, I'm def going to

That's fair. I guess it comes down to routines. I love being able to wake up, walk to the gym (like 2 min away) do my exercise and be home, shower and sitting ready to work all in under an hour. 15 min walk would be 30 min of decent

I think it comes down to the person and their discipline. Ultimately, I do get more coding done at home. However, being surrounded by colleges and a "business" atmosphere motivates me to actually do the coding, its hard to explai

It's weird. I feel like you can get more done at an office at times... but then there's also a lot of downtime. Also the commute is always killer. I honestly believe people work better when they get dressed and have some routine
