absolutely, i'm very familiar with that stress. but committing to a donation only business model for a product you're giving away for free is playing the startup game on ludicrous mode.

Income bar / donation thing sounds extremely stressful and precarious if you're paying anyone a salary. Capped profit is interesting since it doesn't limit the business model, just the likelihood of enshitification.

Some people have been fine-tuning mistral 7B and phi-2 on their high-end macs. Unified memory is a hell of a thing. The resulting model here is not spectacular but as a proof of concept it's pretty exciting what you get in 3.5 hours on

Note that this is a Teenage Engineering collab! Pretty exciting and a crazy low price point for something with their name on it. This isn't a phone though right? The title seems wrong.

Instantly thought this had a teenage engineering vibe and was pleasantly surprised that it's actually a collab with them. Makes me 10x more likely to buy.

I'm totally aligned with this line of thought and I think running local is the best possible thing to do with all of the privacy risks AI presents. In the future I want my cognition 10x amplified by AI and the only way I can imagine th

I meant self-driving haha. Had it for 2 years but the names are still confusing. I'm like 99% sure autopilot did no steering before this update. Now it will try to go around curves on its own, but as I said it was randomly turning off

Yeah I was wondering about that too. I got a software update that seemed to add auto steer to my non-self-driving model y. I tried it a few times on the highway but it seemed erratic (switching off randomly and dangerously engaging regenera

ah, got it. yeah the llama.cpp speeds I've seen are like 5-10 tokens/second on intel but I've been impressed with the relatively ancient hardware llama.cpp works on (2017 iMac with 8GB RAM at 5.5 t/s with a 7B model!).
