I wouldn't make any conclusions yet given that they haven't recovered the wreckage yet. That being said, ultralight glider technology is actually really good. It is plausible with ultralight materials you could build a car-sized t

I agree the videos are thoroughly debunked as being aliens, but there still are credible reports that navy/air force see craft observing them periodically. That doesn't have to be aliens for the reports to be true. e.g. The video

Lots of answers point to the user experience of Medium becoming worse. This misses the bigger picture: the economics of free blog hosting don't work. V1 of Medium was great because they weren't concerned with monetization. The pro

Mick West's breakdowns of the Pentagon UAP videos was the nail in the coffin of this era of UFO hype for me. https://youtu.be/Le7Fqbsrrm8?t=665 These were supposed to be the smoking gun evidence. UFO believers inside t

Yeah this is another one I was thinking of, that early projects in a tech adoption cycle are completed faster than later ones, because they are simpler and the benefit more obvious. I wonder if anyone has studied this.

Kurzweil did most of the work to popularize the idea of the Singularity through a series of books (and related speaking tours) in the 90s/2000s. The title of your essay, "The Singularity is Close?" appeared to be a play on th

There's no actual new theory here, just the same ideas Kurzweil said in the late 90s re-hashed. It's pure conjecture when AGI will actually happen. GPT-3 and Transformers are impressive but still many orders of magnitude away from

Collison's theories page nudges the reader to look at "red tape" as an explanation for why things go slower these days, but I think there are hidden variables behind a lot of these which are simpler explanations. First is the

I can't believe the 7/8ths rule isn't a bigger story than it is. Insanely undemocratic. I wouldn't vote for any bill that included that stipulation.

Gemini is probably the best one, code-quality wise. Agreed, the way the trading-pair-to-exchange relationship works right now is imperfect. It's ripe for a good refactor.

It's possible CCXT could be used to easily wrap other exchanges into gryphon. I'm not familiar with the library so hard to guess if it would be a net win or not.

Shouldn't be, you just need to write a wrapper for the exchange API with the interface defined in 'gryphon.lib.exchange.exchange_api_wrapper'. I'll add an article to the docs with more about that soon.
