It's perfectly general: arb, market making, signal trading, ml, etc. Whatever strategy class you're thinking of, you can probably implement it on Gryphon.

Thanks! I hope they do. I had considered adding a 'reading list' to the docs for people who are new to trading, so this could be used as a teaching tool (or just to make using it easier). I'll bump that up the priority list.

That's holdover for when the project was started years ago. It's a focus for this year to migrate.

Hey folks, I'm the primary maintainer of Gryphon. The backstory here is: I was one of the founders of Tinker, the trading company that built Gryphon as our in-house trading infrastructure. We operated 2014-18, starting with just a simp

Totally fair to wonder that, all I can say is we make it clear the built-in algos are just for demo/inspiration purposes, shouldn't be run live with any expectation of profit. The point of Gryphon is to use the framework to build&

I believe the poster meant a machine-learning system blowing up (catastrophic trading loss) due to a black swan event that the system wasn't trained to deal with. Knight's blow-up was a process/sysops failure, not due to thei

I had a similar intuition reading the article. I don't think we understand much at all about the probabilities of life forming even under the ideal circumstances. The events that took place on earth could still be one in a billion, or

It all depends on how big you think each problem is. I'm quite confident that the events we hear about on campuses are outliers that are presented as the norm, but that's not the perception of most commentators. On the other hand,

This is an excellent post that anyone thinking about Hiroshima should read. This post by the same author also makes a convincing argument that the beginning of the firebombing campaign against Japan with the bombing of Tokyo (in which more

It's not really appeal to authority. He's not claiming that Taleb is right because of who he is, rather that we shouldn't dismiss him out of hand because he's very accomplished and credible.

In this case what Taleb is concerned with is decision making. The right amount of weight is what allows human beings to make good decisions. He believes that MAD is much more intuitive to humans and therefore leads to better decisions.

This is what Taleb is saying. MAD is more intuitive to humans, and we can see this in particular because experienced statisticians, when asked to describe what standard deviation "means", actually describe MAD.

The language my top comment used was "homocide" and "negligent homocide" while the responder changed it to "murder". The point is that in the view of the justice system, sometimes it doesn't matter if you

This is very true. Many activists actually want to open up less-harsh sentencing or charge options in sexual assault cases to give prosecutors and juries more ways to treat the specifics of each case.

Yeah, it's pretty shocking to me too. I don't know how it happened, but somehow people interpret affirmative consent as meaning we're going to start prosecuting rape cases with presumption-of-guilt. In my brain these are actu

No other comments have directly addressed the quote you referenced. My interpretation is it is saying that rape cases are prosecuted about the intent of the perpetrator. Aka, they are convicted if it can be shown that they intended to commi
