$500 for something non-essential? Startups are launched with a budget of $5000, and you think spending 10% on a trademark should be possible?

Any idea when the process to claim inactive accounts is going to be fixed? My startup owns the domain associated with its name (which is pretty unique), but someone is squatting the relevant Twitter account without any activity. I already c

Very interesting, although he comes to some unfounded conclusions. Especially the "if I had increased the price I'm sure I could've gotten a lot more revenue" remark. Maybe 99 cents is exactly the sweet spot, or by lowering the price he mig

Agreed, heating is much more efficient than cooling anyway, so you'd still get a profit with your system, even though your heating exoenses might rise just a bit.

It could not. "liking" is inherently biased. It is in no way an objective measurement of usefulness. Pages that contain negative content will never be "liked" even though they might be very useful or linked to a lot. As an extreme example,

Except you're just turning the problem around. While now, if it's hot outside, the fridge heats up the air in the house, just like you said. With your system, if it's cold outside, the fridge cools down the air in the house (since the heat

The graph is interesting but gives a skewed view of the facts, since it's relative to each other. A more interesting graph would be one where absolute numbers are shown. I bet the "web"-part would still be on the rise, however not as fast a

Wouldn't asking "which button" instead of making them click a button, skew the results? I think it's weird users would choose the giant red unfriendly "DENY" button over the friendly green "Approve" button. The red button definitely stands

Indeed, and they don't lose any of the analytic tracking data you mentioned that is now lost because businesses implement their own service. They actually gain a metric: popularity of custom shortlinks vs t.co's universal shortlinks

They could actually exploit it as a business feature. Make the flic.kr domain point to Twitter's servers, who implement the shortening service, and allow the business users to view lots of interesting stats, in relation with tweets. Stuff t

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't find an option to disable using Twitter's own shortening service? As an extreme example, I find http://t.co/gpRQitG less informative than http://youtu.be/oHg5SJYRHA0 . If your site is still only at 3

With earnings of about $500 million in the first half of 2010, and 44% growth since last year, isn't a $100M IPO really, really conservative? Does this mean the stocks will jump sky high the second it's on the market?

They didn't specify yet, but I'm guessing yes, they want to display an ad. I have about 78K unique visitors. It would be nice to be able to demand a higher CPM, but I don't have the experience to get that yet. I'll try putting Adsdaq on it,

Thanks for linking me to Adsdaq, looks very interesting! Apparently I can set backuptags, so if I have less than 100% fill rate I can put AdSense back. I won't risk earning less because of this. The advice on going a bit higher is great. It

Thanks, great advice! I was focusing too much on CPM and rotating ads. I am experiencing huge growth though (constant 30% a month for the last 7 months) so I should probably ask €600/month @ €1 CPM, or charge per week.

$20 a month seems steep for something so simple. It's a good idea, although I'm not sure as a customer if I'd want to take the trouble to rate a reply. For $20 a month you could sign up with an integrated feedback system which, if nicereply

It's something that almost happened to me too. A git repository for a project that at first, in the prototype-stage, had credentials hard-coded, but inevitably moved on to be config-file-driven. I concocted the following command to change a

They probably won't let you put explosives in there. I'm sure it takes quite a bit more talent than most amateurs have to make a rocket with fuel that is safe to put aboard another rocket. Just imagine if it'd ignite or blow up mid-flight.

Interesting idea, especially the video encoding would trip a lot of web developers. However, does $3 to process 1 GB seem steep to anyone else? Especially when working with video files.
