No, it definitely works with multiple clients. I have ERC connected to ZNC at all times in the office and at home I have ERC connected to ZNC when I'm off work. I get buffer playback as soon as I connect and I don't miss any mes

I'm still using one of these "ancient" Thinkpads (an X200S). It's good enough for my purposes (audio recording, live audio performances, hacking on free software, Emacs, browsing the web). I don't often find myself

It's the same (or worse?) with Java. OpenJDK 6 and 7 can both be bootstrapped with GCJ, but with JDK 8 you need JDK6. Even GCJ needs a prebuilt jar of ECJ, so there is no way to bootstrap Java without having to trust binaries.

You can use the guix command line tool and let it talk to a remote guix-daemon. I would not know how to set this up on a Mac, but Guix is in fact designed such that the command line tool is separate from the daemon. I'm using this fea

The Guix project reuses the Nix daemon but it made different decisions at various points, such as using one unified language (Guile Scheme) for every part of the system, or how to configure the system; using Guile for everything (turning Gu

There's also Lilypond (lots of Guile) and Gimp (a little bit of Guile), which are both pretty well-known projects. Guix itself is a large project. GDB has Guile scripting support as well. The website could feature a few more projects

That's excellent! I'm digging the declarative approach. Successively mutating a disk image and needlessly duplicating items that really could be shared in the first place is the moral equivalent of giving up on the problem rather

I very much like how Guix is just a Guile Scheme library and can itself be integrated with other Scheme code. There is, for example, guix-web, a web interface to the package manager; there also is an Emacs interface using geiser. Using Gui

Guix is not as old as Nix. Guix reuses parts of Nix but replaces the various languages in use for Nix packages and tools with Guile Scheme, both in the "frontend" as well as the "backend". Packages are just regular Gui
