One of the killer features is the multi-platform support, including web browsers, in combination with synchronization across devices and the Google Docs plugin. Makes working on a paper across multiple devices super easy.

Why do you consider H3 to be on life support? It's basically a finished spec with actively developed implementations. https://github.com/uber/h3

>In that case, what would make them "web" apps anymore, as opposed to apps running on a low-level VM and a GPU library? They'd be more like e.g. Java+OpenGL apps. Just that they launch from a web browser? All kinds of non-

I'm interested in better understanding your concerns. If the DOM and JavaScript are the main sticking points, how would you feel about web apps being implemented with WASM and targeting WebGL/WebGPU as the rendering target? Are yo

I'm in favor of PWAs but I never understood why Jobs originally planed to distribute apps in such a open way. He must have known that this would drastically limit Apple's power to decide what runs on customers devices. Do you have

I believe it's less than people would think but from previous discussions on PWAs it seems to me, that mobile developers just dislike JavaScript and it's ecosystem, rather than PWAs in general. And fair enough, I'm all for de

Yeah, agreed. User permissions need to become more granular. A web app should not be able to use all CPU power for prolonged amounts of time. Instead the browser should drastically limit computing usage of a web app, till the user gives the

Yes, that's true. However after using the Twitter PWA for some time, I believe there's a whole segment of native apps which could run just as well as PWAs. My biggest gripe was the Twitter PWA losing state while multitasking. This

Without fanboying to much, I want to add how important PWAs are to breaking the walled gardens of the App Store and Play Store. Apple and Google can and will stop your app from distributing via their stores if they see fit, but they can

"2) State is maintained if it goes in the background. A bit buggy though, but promising" So happy about that! I almost thought Apple would deliberay cripple the PWA experience on iOS just enough in order to not be competitive to n

I'm unsure how blender is organized but they seem to compete with the proprietary competition on a much higher level. Does blender have so many more developers working on it than Gimp? Edit: Seems like blender is indeed better funded:

Yeah, that's my guess as well. Angular leaves you with fewer choices on how to structure your application. In comparison React only provides you with the view layer and even for routing you have to rely on third party packages. I perso

As a student currently studying and working in Berlin I wonder why Vue and specifically Angular are way more popular than React. Looking at local job posting Java and Angular seem to be king for almost everything. How come?

What kind of content would be distribution that way? Something like battle plans send to individual members? Would they not be able to just snitch the important information without copying word for word the sensitive message?
