In general, I'm glad Uber is getting their comeuppance, with all the shady things they've done, they are overdue. On a personal note, having worked for a period with Travis at RedSwoosh, I think he's getting the raw end of th

Co-founding a startup (or with multiple partners) is a very personal thing. People get emotional about it and there's almost always someone working harder, which causes discontent to grow over time. Eventually, you have to split or t

It's gotten far easier to telecommute in recent years and that keeps the productivity much higher than it used to be. My partners and I tried remote work back in 2007, even spending 10k to video conference with Marratech [1] (Google-o

When I look at these monoliths, I can't help but think about the fabled Sci-Fi Mega Corporations of the future that seem to be anything other than positive. [1] [2] [3] There are of course real life examples from the past.. [4][5][6] [

I've encountered many companies that are scared of lawsuits from bad references so responses, mandated by HR, are often limited to employment dates, and other very generic information. The mentality is, that person isn't our prob

That's all true, but in reality, we often count on the better nature of people, goodwill, for a proper break on both sides. If someone is planning a malicious exit, it can be very hard to stop them depending on how "integrated&quo

I use mostly Apple devices, iPhone, Mac Pro, Airport Extremes, Apple TV. I love the tight integration. For me, the choice isn't about price; it's about functionality. I desperately wanted to like iCloud, but Apple missed the mark

It's great to see this type of evolution in database performance, maybe this will become the standard someday. The only thing missing is that there isn't a comparable project for MySQL.

I have the same problem but imagine the alternatives. One reason it's so bad the last 2 weeks is the volume. The US exchanges have been hammered. Week to verify my bank on Coinbase, a week to verify my ID on Gemini.

IPv4 is like any commodity. Now that it's not easily to get from ARIN, a market has sprung up around buying and selling it. It's still relatively easy to get IPv4 blocks for a buck or two per IP through auction houses.
