I've found local governments (city or district) to fill this niche nicely for me. They usually need a guy to help with all kinds of IT stuff, value any kind of automation work and are not as bloated as federal. You help your community

You are nitpicking my phrasing to fit your rhetoric device - 'finding a partner' does include finding a partner... for the night. Of course people want a meaningful job to some extent. According to Herzberg's dual-factor theo

Conflating finding a partner (flirting) with finding a place that will transact your time and expertise for money (job searching) says more about how you see the world than you might realize.

If you use a procedural programming language (PL/SQL, T-SQL, etc.) to model your domain, you're just old-school programming. If you're using a tool like Oracle APEX you're doing Low Code, bar the few escape hatches.

I once came across the take that the shift in popular sci-fi from utopian to dystopian lead to a generation of wealth that has been shaped by these stories. The logic is that if you have lots of popular fiction describing the future a certa

There are liability questions attached to formal qualification. A company that sends out unlicensed / untrained staff to fix something will have a harder time convincing a judge that they did their due diligence if something goes wrong

In my home country of Austria it's easy to distinguish a federally licensed engineer without forbidding the use of that word for people who are not licensed. A licensed engineer may put the title "Ing." in front of his name (
