This is anecdata but in my experience the way WebDev (esp. HTML and CSS) is being taught in academia is very crusty. I've seen Juniors enter the workforce with a solid understanding of table-based layouts from the 2000s for some reason

In Germany and Austria many gas stations do not have attendants... (Avanti, Turmöl, etc.) I have never once experienced an issue with these in my entire life.

Experienced people (10+ years) routinely return to universities because they need a degree of some kind to advance into management. Without wanting to be too much of a downer, I doubt that this is a realistic path right now.
