For open source 3d engines that use Python check out Panda3D or Ursina. They're both a blast to use and let you write your code how you want. [0] https://www.panda3d.org/ [1] https://www.ursinaengine.org&#x

IDK Python was used by Disney with two of their mmos in the early to late 2000s and those were targeted towards super low end family computers and they didn't seem to have issues with performance. Python's slowness seems to be ove

I'm not sure how this reduces the barrier to game developement. There are already lots of free assets and game engines designed for making arcade games that are a lot easier then say Unity or Unreal. Like https://arcade.make

Web rings and web directories are also good solutions to this makes it easy to find content you actually like. Also maybe hackernews should do a monthly post your blog/website just like the monthly job posts.

With tech like this I'm starting to wonder if realistic games are going to become normalized and what will happen as a result. Also has anyone been working on solving the "blurry" look these splats have up close?

Awesome website! Honestly I do believe there is audience large enough to sustain a hn for retro computing and gaming. Truth be told a lot of those types of posts get drowned out here by business and programming posts.
