I'm still suprised that no one has made an equivalent of the old immediate mode graphics apis on top of the newer apis. I know the old school way is very slow and limited but it's a lot more fun and easy to use then dealing with t

Those are all good points but I'd say but I feel like it's important because game developers can better signal to their audience the type of game they made and what the audience should expect from it. Especially in terms for how m

What the medium of games really needs right is to start borrowing length terms from written work. Why? Because the term short/small game is meaningless. Flappy Bird and Pong are short games but so is A Short Hike which takes 2 hours to

It's only for non gamedevs who were paying $0 for the engine.

Honestly it makes sense. I was always a little confused that non-gamedevs had to pay 0. Of course that could've also just been the plan to get VFX and other industries onto Unreal Engine so Epic Games could start charging them later. I

I know it's not realistic but it'd be cool if pretendo made a e-shop replacement.

This is sad. I really wish consoles were more open platforms than they are today so people didn't have to jailbreak their devices to run stuff like pretendo and install homebrew. Also imagine how cool a replacement E-Shop would be. Som

The hardware is definitely capable of becoming a console. It just needs a community making games for it.

I think it could avoid some of the issues with gaming on linux because you could focus in on a unified platform and if there was a gaming SDK targeting the pi we might see orginal games being made as opposed to just ports. Also what exactly

The Pi is probably too powerful for the hobbiest game market just like your saying. I think the Playdate also somewhat fills that niche but maybe the Pi could be something in between the two extremes of modern consoles power and the 8bit fa

I've had this idea for a while now but what if someone built a game console based on the Pi hardware? I know lots of people use their pi's for retro gaming but I'd really like to see some new games made for the hardware. Does
