What does Google still need to catch up on in cloud? Building products/services? Sales? AFAIK, they have comparable cloud services to most AWS/Azure offerings.

Did you watch the video in the link? Musk says "next year, for sure, we will have over 1 million robotaxis on the road". Here is a longer video of that announcement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GnH_C6NrOM

Same reason airplanes don't fly by just flapping their wings like birds. There's not always a biological equivalent for solving a problem, especially when you take into account human brain's evolution over millions of years.

Nah, I stand by it, especially after how he justified it in YouTube comments. Zero reason to turn on a dangerous system in front of a school bus.

Some other individual might not be ready to act immediately. This is really where you want trained safety drivers sent by the engineering team to do targeted testing.

It's useful for polishing an already mature system. But FSD is poor at even doing the basics because of their (lack of) sensors. They need more than low quality 30 second video clips if they ever want a usable autonomous system.

Because they're led to believe all this public beta "testing" actually does something to improve the system. So they go out on roads, enable FSD and click the feedback button when it makes a mistake. It's pure theatre as

Here is another idiot "testing" it out in front a school bus. The car wouldn't stop so he had to intervene: https://youtu.be/zQO6RJCUPEI?t=10 I'm continually surprised how it's still being allowed o

Dang — can we replace ‘Autopilot’ with ‘FSD Beta’ in the title? It’s an important distinction as they do different things.

No, you don't have to. Android Automotive is the base OS. Manufacturers can opt in to offer Google Automotive Services (GAS) which are a bunch of Google apps on top, which you do need to sign in to use.

"True FSD" with humans behind the wheel. That's so much better!

To minimize risk? Why would they go into perhaps an area with heavy construction/blockage when they can just reroute? Humans reroute all the time in those instances.

Why did you not quote the next paragraph from the post? > *We’ve automated most of that process to ensure it’s efficient and scalable*. Every time our cars detect changes on the road, they automatically upload the data, which gets shared

They 100% map and distribute changes to the whole fleet in real time. Waymo and others have talked about it multiple times. It seems you just don’t want to believe it because that would mean your biggest talking point going out of the windo

Robotaxis are out in the real world now. They’re not just in the labs. Your information about mapping is highly outdated. The cars are all self mapping and have the ability to update maps in real time when they detect changes. I think you a

Actually, intervention is also not the best metric. The best metric is driverless miles. Removing the driver is the true test of autonomy.
