I have some advice based on experience with severe depression. Do what you can to get them out of the house, exercise and the outdoors can be wonderful shocks to a depressed system on the right day. Know that sometimes you will have to help

At this point I assume every young, college aged male I speak with is majoring in software. I'm right more often than wrong. That doesn't account for changing majors, etc, and I'm certainly biased.

God that's depressing. I was rereading the post on Coding Horror about interviewees not being able to pass fizzbuzz and I have such a hard time believing it.

Wow, no kidding? I used to wear mine for months, maybe even close to a year. Anytime I had my eyes examined I asked how my eyes looked due to the constant wear and the optometrist told me they looked great but frowned at me doing so. I figu

What is the rational behind your first sentence? Solving problems is progress, and that is anything but bleak. > Don’t waste cycles on the emotions of having problems. I don't think you're reading what the parent comment is act

400F, yes but most cooking oils have a smoke point below 500F. Even then, where is the evidence? Where exactly is PTFE banned and where is the strong correlation?

I have never seen any conclusive evidence for nonstick cookware being dangerous with normal usage. I know that PTFE shouldn't get too hot, and temperatures above 500F are rare for range cooking.

To solve a similar problem I nuked the site with uBlock Origin. I don't see anything on YouTube now other than a search bar. I never had an addiction problem with YouTube, but I certainly had an annoyed one.

It's infuriating that drivers run red lights, illegally park in bike lanes, text and drive, and hit pedestrians, cyclists and other cars, and generally act like the rules only apply when it suits them. Ask anyone who walks or bikes in

I've been learning Haskell for a few months now. I really like it and am looking to write a small compiler in it. Anyone have any pointers? I'm also smoking ribs for the first time today, that should be a fun learning experience.

Software engineers are rewarded what the market demands, not some prize because they're seen as better for humanity than nurses. Some would argue the field of nursing has a lower bar to entry than software development.
