Okay.... that's great. Nothing I said precludes that. Realistically I suspect that at the end of the day the people who are getting things done aren't jumping on every shiny new trend. BUT they also they aren't spending weeks

Yesterday I posted something about an emacs keybinding and someone pointed out that the command actually doesn't have a default keybinding. I set up that keybinding sometime in the mid 2000's and it hasn't changed since then.

This is not the first time someone has corrected me about default emacs keybindings. Considering that I probably set up that keybinding 15 years ago, it sure feels to me like it's part of emacs. I guess the next time I am trying to giv

When you are looking at the email in gnus C-c l (org-store-link) then in the org file C-c M-l (org-insert-last-stored-link) I think. I'm not sure what you mean by dynamic link and have personally never needed to link to emails.

But if the goto fail code had been run through an automated code formatter it would have been more obvious because the human indenting error would be fixed. Is it possible to write a formatter that would fix an issue like that for yaml or p

Odd coincidence, I read this HN thread and when I checked my email I had an update from Starmourn. A new scifi mud from Iron Realms that launched the end of 2018. I can't say much more about it though. When I signed up to the mailing l

I mentioned in another post that I've found that in practice emacs blocking isn't an issue for me. What I didn't say is that I did need to do some configuration to make that happen. Mostly I just installed the async package a

I agree with you about preferring manual tiling, the worst thing about manual tiling managers is that there are so few choices. EXWM is my favorite with StumpWM a close second and i3 a distant 3rd. I've been using EXWM for a few years

I recently posted on HN complaining about Nix and Guix. For myself (and I suspect many people) when installing GuixSD, before I even have the system running, I'm going to need to figure out how to package the Linux kernel with firmware
