Thanks, that helps! I still don't quite understand the mechanics of this, since backprop makes adjustments to steer the LLM towards a specific token sequence, not towards a score produced by a reward function.

Reinforcement learning seems to be key. I understand how traditional fine tuning works for LLMs (i.e. RLHL), but not RL. It seems one popular method is PPO, but I don't understand at all how to implement that. e.g. is backpropagation s

If you ask it to "Pick 100 numbers from 0-10", it will invoke a Python snippet and give you a much better distribution.

The "Comment" magazine looks nice, nowadays I don't see many appealing printed magazines. I wonder if there are print publications out there on technical subjects that interest me.

I created all the sprites to my game, "Noop's Odyssey", using POV-Ray. My game was one of the games on a "100 Shareware Games" CD-ROMs.

I like the article but there are multiple errors in the first paragraph: "[James Lick] is buried under the telescope, which began operations in 1988, a year after his death."

Today Arcol released a preview build to everyone. Think Figma, but for people who design modern buildings.

Evan Wallace (former CTO of Figma) made an interesting CRDT post in November: https://www.madebyevan.com/algos/crdt-tree-based-indexing/ His writings are lucid and more readable than academic papers, IMO.

Looks like they analyzed two datasets: one captured by a telescope in Chile, the other in Spain. We don’t hear about ground based telescopes in the news, I wish they were covered more often.

How are entity id's managed? When an entity "dies", can its id be re-used? From a Rust-on-WASM perspective, it might be useful to limit the entity id's to ~52 bits or less, since native JavaScript numbers are doubles.
