When I saw the OP's format, I immediately wanted a VS Code extension for it. This looks great, installing it as we speak. In fact, I like your format slightly more, because when I complete tasks I usually just delete them -- no need fo

Maybe the implementation needs to be more efficient, but I feel that Artemis, in principle, is a worthwhile endeavor. Not just for the United States, but for humanity. I would be proud to work on it.

> The proof relies on a curious fact about high-dimensional geometry, which is that randomly distributed points placed on the surface of a sphere are almost all a full diameter away from each other. What theorem is this referring to? So

I'm surprised that OpenSCAD uses GMP. I would think that 64-bit doubles would be good enough.

Nice read. The tl;dr is that we think intelligent life is very rare, but at the same time we think it's really hard (almost impossible) to make an intelligent guess.

Nicely written essay. Also in the realm of historical astronomical events, I find it fascinating that there have been 7 supernovae that have in occurred in human history that were visible the naked eye. While it's a totally different

> artificial light is increasing globally by at least 2% every year Um this is scary, isn't it? I want cities across the world to start switching over to low pressure sodium lamps. Yellow light for the win!

It is obvious to me that computer programming is an interesting AI goal, but at the same time I wonder if I'm biased, because I'm a programmer. The authors of AlphaCode might be biased in this same way. I guess this makes sense t

This bsrender.io thing looks really neat. Looks like it can render the Milky Way purely from individual stars? Wow.

I wonder why they chose to focus on HD84406 for calibration. As far as celestial objects go, it doesn't seem very interesting.

These lecture notes look GREAT, thank you! I suppose that they are not a common topic due to their limited (or non-existent?) applicability. But, they are so fun.

Their post has a link to a self-published book about Game of Life looks really interesting. Any other recommendations? The only other cellular automata book I've seen is Wolfram's "New Kind Of Science", which I really

The Spintronics video mentions the simulation of resistors, capacitors, batteries...but not logic gates. It doesn't seem to teach the magic of boolean logic at all, which is a bit disappointing. (but not as disappointing as the Fishe

Agreed, "applet" is a self-documenting word, it's a shame that it is confusing! Personally I like the word "vignette" although I haven't seen it anybody else using it that way.

It sounds like the opposing arguments are: (1) if you want something to exist, you'll be biased in your observations, (2) we might simply be unaware of a bunch of Kuiper objects, and those unknown objects might be exerting their influe

Interesting how the device in the video looks slightly different from the prototype. I love how the 3 LEDs in the top-right animate like the front of the car in Knight Rider. Brings back memories to see Stewart Cheifet giving an interview!
