This is amazing! I am vacationing in Spain and rented, I think, the same model as you. A BMW X2 M something or other. Absolutely rock bottom by far the worst driving experience ever. Ultimate driving experience indeed. Insane and subtle ann

Marketing mail is a significant (maybe 25%) portion of the USPS revenue and very profitable. They have a strong disincentive to reduce the stream of junk mail going to your home.

There are thousands of Chinese characters and thousands of Kanji. Maybe we are destined to replace all existing written language with 10’s of thousands of emoji? I’ll be illiterate in that world, but my kids seem to grok it.

I have shifted the majority of my search for products to ChatGPT. In the past my starting point would have been Amazon or Google. It’s just so much easier to describe what I’m looking for and ask for recommendations that fit my parameters.

Spot on. There's something instinctual about this. My kids (13,10,8) all love making art. When I show them AI tools that they could use to generate art or riff on existing art, they are actively opposed. They tell me that AI art is not

Arthur C. Clarke famously predicted all of this in 1964. Basically: distance will become irrelevant to intellectual work.

Sometimes the best shows are the ones with just two seasons. Great stuff, no filler, no suffering from trying to extend the run. I really enjoyed Men of a Certain Age. Highly recommend it. Rest in peace Andre Braugher.

Infuriating when I need 12oz of a product for a recipe and now I can only buy it in 9.5oz cans. Way to go. Now you sold two. More packaging, more waste, more profits!

Why even go to that much trouble? If it’s truly a throwaway I just use an email address like shitsinthewoods@mailinator.com, grab what I need, and go on with my life. If I ever happen to need to login again, I’ll just send a password reset

Eventually they’ll just route around this by connecting to your neighbor’s Ring doorbell or your Nest thermostat or whatever random internet connected thing that it can reach out and pass packets through.

They would have just thrown them in the dumpster. The point of the bin was to stop people from filling the trash cans with their used books.

When I was in college I sold discarded text books on half.com. This isn’t my best income stream, but in many ways it was my favorite. After the Spring 2000 semester, I noticed that the bookstores had junk book bins. Students would dump into

Anecdotally it feels like all of these sites are super fast right now. I even reinstalled the heinous Weather Channel app and it’s working wonderfully. With ads that app is essentially unusable on an iPhone 14.

I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who thinks this is serious heavy duty dumb. Last night I saw an ad that seemed to imply Amazon Music would now be included with Prime. I thought, hmm, let me check if it still does the thing where you c

Celery supports solar scheduling, though it's not obvious how you would do +/- some time from the solar event. You would probably need to extend their implementation, but I don't think that would be too hard. https:/&#x

I always use the Chase Debit cards stored in my Apple Wallet to access Chase ATMs. Works great. You can use the Apple Wallet cards to unlock the ATM vestibule doors after hours too.

This article feels like a poor retread of what Ben Thompson has been writing [0] and podcasting [1] about for at least the last 5 years. Even the rough sketch diagrams feel like a poor copy of what Ben does at Stratechery. The conclusion th
