Three sincere questions for the group: Does anyone disagree that Apple and Google have the right to just go "this app store business is just not worth the headaches, we're gonna shut it all down." When I read hackernews a lot

Rather than funding programs like this, people would be far better served by being educated on how to better use the money they have. Just look at the US Bureau of Labor Statistics on how people spend their money. https://www.bl

Actually, the scenario you describe "one store chain in each reason" is a common scenario. Outside of major urban centers it's not uncommon to have a single grocery store, hardware store, etc. Energy distribution is differe

Correct. And this is not illegal. Using the store analogy - when you purchase at a store, the store has a markup on the product (usually 40%) - you cannot demand the store take a different markup because a store down the street is selling

Users own the hardware, but not the software - they are grante a license to use the software. This is not about the hardware, it's about a single App, the App Store, which the user does not own.

Yup. Exactly. Think of it this way. You manufacture product foo and it's sold to customers via some national store chain. If you anger the owners of the store chain, they can simply refuse to carry your product anymore. This happe

What percentage is reasonable? For a $20 app the current model is that you pay Apple $6. If you waved a wand and made it 20% you pay Apple $4. So the difference in this case is only $2 (while you get $16). That's small potatoes.

Sure, but I was talking about subscriptions, but I hear your point. What I'm trying to show is that once you accept zero is not reasonable (and most rational people accept this) and then explore the actual $$ difference between what Ap

Ok, 10% is your number. So after your app has been on the store for more than a year, Apple's fee falls to 15%. So you're arguing that the 5% difference is unreasonable. Let's put that % difference into perspective. Say yo

Poor analogy. iOS does not have the market dominance that Windows/Microsoft has. In this case, iPhones represent about 15% of the global smartphone sales and I think that the OS (in the US) is a 60/40 iOS vs android split. T

They get that data the same way they always do, from people seeking medical attention. People who are symptomatic for anything ( flu, cold, etc) should always isolate themselves. What’s madness is asymptotic people testing themselves.

If you experience symptoms you should self quarantine. If the test comes back negative, you’ll just keep testing yourself until you find out you have it?

So you’re just going to test yourself constantly? If you experience symptoms for any illness and you care for seniors, you should remove yourself from care. No need to test.

What’s the point of testing? There is no treatment. So knowing you have it or not is pointless. If you have it, and it’s serious, you’ll seek medical attention regardless of whether you know it or not. When you see the ridiculous on hand

Correct. It’s all discipline. When the school has late start, do the kids go to bed at the same time and get more rest? Nope. They stay up later.

The reason start times are complex is buses. To save money and optimize the number of buses, the same set of buses are used for elementary, middle, and high school. So if high school kids start later the middle school or elementary school

I never buy these stories. Why is it that an 18 year old high school student has trouble getting up and off to school by 7:30/ 8:00 am, but an 18 year old marine has no problems getting up at 4:30 am?

It's very complicated. People have conflicting ideas - one the one hand, they want affordable housing (ie their rent to go down) or the other, not in my backyard. Worth a view The Insane Battle To Sabotage a New Apartment Building Exp

Does anyone know why there is a flash of light and a puff of smoke when the gun fires? Since it's electromagnetic, you'd think you wouldn't see anything.

Politics is a huge factor in the lack of affordable housing. Both legislation and concerns by citizen about how new housing will "change" a neighbor make it next to impossible to build higher density housing. Watch this video - i

How would you propose that packets be prioritized? I don't like the idea of the government telling me what packets should be prioritized. And saying that they all need to be treated the same is equally as bad. But the real issue here

Do neither. Stay in school. If you leave, you'll never go back. (trust me, this happens 99% of the time when people leave school) You can take a year off after you graduate. And job opportunities come and go. This one certainly doe

Reputation doesn't matter. What matters is internships. Do those. Do those now. An internship is what will get you your first job. After that, school doesn't matter at all and everything will be about what you've shipped.

Doesn't make sense to me. You could buy an iPhone for a little over $250 if the carriers wanted. Consider this: An iPod touch is an iPhone without the phone. That costs $230. You can walk into any carrier and buy a cellphone without con
