I do wish people would reply with a decent criticism of my comment sometimes rather than simply downvote. I personally thought my comment was valid - it's not really a manifesto in the spirit of the Agile Manifesto if it's not agr

Completely true, and also one of the most annoying things about work. I always find "morning people" to be incredibly annoying. I understand that there are morning people and there are night people. However, as a night person I do

That's fine when the people you work with appreciate the work you do, but you're not going to know that going in. If you work hard from the off, all you can do is go down, whereas if you start off slowly then you can look good whe

Similar to some advice I heard early on in my career: "When you start at a company it's tempting to work really hard to give a good impression. Don't. All you're doing is setting expectations on your work. Instead, do an

Well I'm in the UK and it seems I was taught the "Common Core" way of doing things. All makes sense to me! Right down to using the quadratic formula to solve equations. The "Old" way just looks weird...

Not sure what the point of the implicit operator overloads was. Why not just have: public class CreateBooking { public int TypeId { get; private set; } ... public CreateBooking(BookingTypeId typeId, ..., ...) { TypeI

I skimmed through Part 3 and it's basically saying that app servers are hard to deploy, maintain and dev against and you should be using Spring Boot or Dropwizard instead to create applications with the services you require.

Each JAR is just a zip file. It can be convenient to merge all those JAR files into one for deployment so you don't have to have all the JAR files lying around in the system and upgrades are just "replace this one JAR file" (

Not sure about that. I gave up smoking 10 years ago and the only way (after giving up 100's of times before) was to give up, grit my teeth and sit it out. Otherwise you're just prolonging the agony. Your brain lies to you to try
