Electron has always had capabilities that websites don't have. VS Code, e.g., has shell integration, uses file watchers, lets you connect to remote servers or your container runtime, interacts with other installed programs, etc. I don&

I can feel the frustration when people are forced to use a specific proprietary app that is bad (hey MS Teams). They clearly have the resources and experience to build better native apps. But I guess the one big advantage for electron is th

It seems far-fetched to me. Most people agree with the need for change. They disagree with the way they protest. I also don't see why many people would use a car more frequently just because there are protests against it. Additionally

I am totally pro-Firefox, but your case is not about Chrome being a bad actor. For websites to be registered as link handlers, the user gets asked and has to accept (like camera access)[1]. There is no difference between Chrome and Firefox

Maybe you don't but most people use the central search feature of Windows, which opens Edge and Bing on any web result. If you click on links in the most used email client (Outlook) and business chat app (Teams) Edge opens [1]. How can

With GitHub Container Repo, Podman, Colima, etc., the Dockerfile format is maybe the only one that will stick for a long time. I don't think Docker is going away, but I think it is such a great format that there is no need to reinvent

Outstanding move. Why do so many people record stuff they should keep to themselves online? It is so easy to record and leak those things. Same with Sam Bankman-Fried, they found six million pages of evidence [1]. Delete your stuff if you d

It takes some time to get used to it (basically, memorizing most import class name schemes). But this is the first time I can open an old project I haven't seen for a year and directly start changing the styles of stuff without the fea

Nice one; it works great! I would prefer it if the tool linked to the existing common domains instead of only showing the available ones. For my search,.org .org and .com are not available, and I wanted to look into what they are about.

More interesting to me is that they changed the design of the dev-tools slightly. Some of it is already in the canary build [1]. For example, the syntax highlighting colors are more vibrant in dark mode. But I can't find any online inf

I guess SQL is so widely used that there are always some niche cases. I guess it is useful if you just want to show one example value where there is no numerical order, and you want fetching this value to be superfast. Like a movie database
