You read that right. The author is part of a movement known as the "dark enlightenment".

Yes didn't get this part either. It's perfectly possible the interviewer asked the interviewee to explain the difference between Responsive Design (the concept) and Twitter Bootstrap (the framework that implements it).

You always use the customer's chat system? Or do you include your own chat system to streamline things in your backend?

Yes, totally agree. Any rational entrepreneur leverages his solvency into debt funding.

Maybe the title can mention that this 50 million is a credit facility, not equity funding.

Why would your rep need to close 25 x 12 x 10K ACV = 3 million USD of customer value each year to make it profitable? Shouldn't 25 per year suffice?

If the founder can get the 90K cost constant and keep the rev growing at 9% per month, there is only a $10K shortage by month 7 (and cash runs out in month 6 only). This can easily be solved with some annual prepayments. Source: https:

I think making comments this stupid as a SVP is a fireable offense and I can somewhat see how the "family" mention makes Sarah Lacy worried about her children, but I totally don't get where this gender angle is coming from in

Remember that VCs buy preferred equity that can limit their downside (1x liquidation preference at least, maybe a preferred dividend). The company you follow sells common stock to its shareholders.

Index funds do about 4% real return over time and scale very well. You are right that wealth is more dynamic than most people think but the reason is rather that the most effective way to get really rich is to leverage everything into one c

Like so many unions, they want to limit the supply side (laborers) so the wages can go up. Or force a minimum wage so employers hand pick the better skilled employees anyway. So of course no union will say it out loud but the economic effe

It's a term value investors use for investing in "net nets", i.e. companies that trade below their net cash position. The idea is "if we can buy the cash at a discount and get the (crappy) company for free, at some point

This is basically cigar butt investing for the private market, as I doubt the most stable recurring revenue type businesses they seek to own are available at a low enough price to make it work for them.

I agree. The big idea behind Uber is to optimize capacity utilization. That's also the reason why it's a race between those taxi apps to get global scale first. Unlike cars, maids and masseuses don't waste 90% of their time d

I'm always surprised how cheap it is to buy politicians. I would expect a company like Palantir to spend much more than 1.1 million on lobbying. Does anybody know how much the 'consultancy fees' to former government officials

Such a company with a proven ROI on its marketing should go for venture debt, not venture capital. If you can 2.5x your money in 10 months and capital is at 0% interest out there, why would you sell a huge stake of your business to get to t

1 times annual revenue is actually a bit high. I've seen affiliate sites sell for 4 to 6 months of revenue. The reason is that after paying for the labor to maintain it there is very little profit in those websites. You are buying a jo
