You may brick your macbook as the switch charger doesn’t follow the spec. This is exactly the problem.

A ubuntu upgrade bricked a virtual server that I had relied on. Network access was so broken that I ended up exporting the data, and killing the machine. Just an anecdote to counter your assertion.

This makes me sad, you are so confident that a government can never do the right thing, that the only solution you see is to prevent any progress, and anchor yourself to a local minima from the past. Society needs it’s members to believe th

Sure, but you’re twisting words. Wind is pretty much always used to refer to horizontal air movement.

I would disagree on boring, thermal flying on a windless day is amazing, proximity flying, a chill sled ride. Many fun ways to play without wind. I wouldn’t comment on safety comparisons with paramotoring without more statistics.

The article mentions the death of hang gliding as a sport, but doesn’t mention that the reason isn’t that people stopped wanting to fly, but rather that paragliding has dominated due to rapid improvements in the technology, and the vastly s

This is untrue, paragliding doesn’t require any wind for descending. You generate your own airspeed. There are also other ways of staying up than soaring (thermals). Additionally, wind isn’t the source of the risk, rather wind variability a

They solve different problems. Tailscale basically allows you to ignore any NAT topologies separating you from your machines. You can have a pseudo local network of your machines behind a VPN, allowing SSH to any machine with zero routing i

Europe is far more free than the US for a lot of this, no permits required, right to roam in many countries, and camping is tolerated most places it isn’t a nuisance.

What a condescending comment. You realize how many millions of people live in flood plains, and how climate change means that existing mitigations are not sufficient anymore?

How do you do this with iPhoto? With an iPhone it doesn't seem that there is a way to sync with a folder anymore.

Because gas and other fossil fuels are inelastic - it's expensive to turn them off or on, and it can't be done rapidly. The fact that wind can be turned on or off at will means they can be used to balance demand spikes.

This is a terrible comparison, bird physiology is nothing like human. The energy saving is vast, the energy comes from external lift rather than burnt calories. It’s like the difference between standing and running.

The mobile apps are where I'm lacking at the moment - I've reluctantly started using dropbox as the syncing solution, but there's not a lot of great mobile apps that work with text well.
