The article mentions the death of hang gliding as a sport, but doesn’t mention that the reason isn’t that people stopped wanting to fly, but rather that paragliding has dominated due to rapid improvements in the technology, and the vastly simpler logistics required to go fly (they fit in a backpack). Paragliding as a sport is exploding.
