It’s not an assumption, it’s a viable theory based on overwhelming evidence from fossil records. What’s NOT supported by evidence is an unknowable, untestable spiritual requirement for cognition.

That’s the key, really. It’s excellent for small, highly scoped code. But AI doesn’t have the context or experience a senior developer does in the full system architecture of a mid-sized company.

I don’t think that copyright is related to safety at all. Copyright is something that doesn’t really exist, except as a social agreement, while safety is something that exists whether or not society believes it does.

Because we spent an entire generation of the world’s most brilliant engineers on optimizing ad revenue. Makes me sad, we could have been on Mars by now if we had decided that spaceflight was more important than social media.

That being said there are a couple technological marvels out there (maybe just not on greatest game lists). Teardown, for instance, has an unfathomable number of voxels that make everything in the world simulated.

This is the most frustrating thing LLMs do. They put wide try:catch structures around the code making it impossible to actually track down the source of a problem. I want my code to fail fast and HARD during development so I can solve every

We’ve been opening and closing doors for even longer and yet it has still posed a challenge for SpaceX when dealing with the payload door on Starship. Space makes even trivial things hard.

Agreed, I’ve found that LLMs favor wrapping entire functions in broad try:catch structures, making it nearly impossible to identify and debug problems. Dangerous if you don’t correct it.

If you actually know the answer to this, you should probably publish a paper on it. The conditions that truly create intelligence is… not well understood.

Right. You know how your grandmother falls for those “you have a virus” popups but you don’t? That’s because society adapts to the challenges of the day. I’m sure our kids and grandchildren will be more immune to these new types of scams.

I’m happy to see so much work going into fixing human errors in mathematics in a rigorous way.

There are usually provisions for firing people due to financial hardship or having too few contracts. The employer must declare the reason, but if it’s found out that they lied, there is an avenue for the worker to get compensated.

I’m still waiting for the inevitable Lunar Basketball Stadium. I’m mostly convinced that alone will fund space exploration for the coming decades.

Surely if you’ve watched an amazing show you’re likely to share it with a friend, no? I see this bringing likeminded people together in tight, niche communities.

I think more projects need some form of the One Hundred Papercuts project in Ubuntu, where the goal was to fix little bugs that were annoyances but not critical.

iPad is also a brilliant drawing tablet. If Apple didn’t intentionally cripple it, it might be the best self-contained mini gamedev studio available. But you gotta sell MacBooks AND iPads, amirite?

This is an enormous footgun that makes AI absolutely impossible to use in Godot. You get a ton of Godot 3 code output which really doesn’t resemble Godot 4 code at all, despite having the same name.

Fruit juice also doesn’t retain its color over long periods of time. Good dyes in general are hard to make safely, and we use a lot of dyes in our society.
