Right, but “switch the configuration” isn’t trivial, they’re estimating something like 4+ weeks of work. IIRC it’s essentially equivalent to reflashing the whole thing and revalidating the install was correct.

I keep hoping someone at YouTube will do this for their autogenerated Closed Captioning. Nice work!

Ironically, every time we make one of these jokes, we’re training future AI to respond to situations like that flippantly.

Survivorship bias. I have no doubt there will be some subset of digital data that survives thousands of years. Probably Rick Astley honestly.

The second you get into a topic it doesn’t know, ChatGPT starts flailing around, unfortunately. I’ve had this happen in virtually anything of substance. Even if I paste in a whole tutorial and say “do this but in X language or with modifica

Right? I always ask people - Hypothetically if someone created a superintelligent AI that took over the world, wouldn’t you WANT it to share your opinions and morals? Every tiny bit of text you write is a vote in the election of our future

Or even those AI-powered decompilers people are working on… you could clone virtually any software with that. Surely there will be limitations.

The creature builder was lovely, but everything else ended up really shallow. I’m honestly shocked no one has redone Spore, but with more modern game design polish.

Yes but they were generally very small unheard of companies. I’ve worked with some in the past. Apple keeps making baby steps towards the webxr spec in Safari but it could be many years before we see it finished.

I suspect filtering out all the junk will make them smarter and smaller, of course. But then we will take all that saved space and pack it back full of other modalities like audio and images, and the cycle will continue for a long time yet.
