The problem with the touch bar is that you have to look away from the screen to use it. Physical buttons would allow you to touch type, and I don't think it's a problem to scan the keys a few times when you start using a new app.

If it's elitist to want your favorite communities to stay focused and full of friendly, like-minded people, then I'm an elitist.

Maybe GP means older as middle aged. I'm 40, moved countries four times in the last ten years, and after moving back to the US three years ago I haven't made a single friend. Since I was able to make many friends elsewhere I place

100%. There are many biological processes that create bonding through physical proximity and touch. You may make great friends online but the physical component can't be ignored.

One of the saving graces of IRC is that the technical barriers to using it (compared to discord, etc) are high enough to keep out the riff raff.

If you don't care about the default telemetry and ads, switch to Windows 10 with WSL. I was a die hard Mac user for a decade and since switching I haven't looked back. Windows is a different beast than it was 10 years ago, and hav

I don't know if it's possible with third party software (I use a hardware programmable keyboard running QMK), but I map it to tap for escape, hold for ctrl. If you use vim keybindings for your editor it's glorious.

That's fine, but you'll still only be able to block on one promise at a time. If you want to wait until all promises have resolved you still have to use Promise. all.

There are lots of testers on the market, but it's hard to differentiate them and I'm sure many of them are garbage. I need one myself, but I haven't had the time to do the research yet.

Personally, while I have never once used the touchbar, I do think the ability for apps to display contextual function keys has a lot of use cases. I would be happy if they released physical keys with little oled screens on them, like that o

That's not a very nice thing to say. I am in the position where I could take your advice but for many folks there is no plausible solution. Sure, anyone could fuck off to the woods, open a fruit stand, and tell their spouse and childre

I know you probably don't want to give up your editor, but FWIW if you can find an acceptable collection of bindings and python extensions for VSCode the remote development extensions work amazingly well with WSL. I was able to set up

I believe the memory industry is also known for price fixing, so it's not out of the question. The oversupply is ridiculous though; the last time I shopped for an nvme they were $1000 for 500gb and the other day I bought 1TB for $500.

FWIW I was a die hard Linux user for ten years, and I usually never ran a desktop environment in favor of tmux and vim. About a year ago I started a new job at a dotnet shop and had to switch to Windows. I dreaded it at first, and I still d
