I hate this so much too. StackOverflow needs a "no jquery" filter.

Of course not. This is the problem with modern politics in a nutshell.

It really annoys me when people present data on charts and the lower range is not zero. This article shows a speed comparison for Verizon and Comcast. The Verizon chart ranges from 1.8Mbps to 2.3Mbps. The Comcast chart goes from 1.4Mbps to

This is certainly terrible news. I cannot imagine being in that situation. My thoughts with him and his family. Just to answer the question above, the US provides SSDI insurance as part of the social security program to cover people with di

I couldn't care less about anyone's sexual preference. But I find it wholly unfair that someone could change from a man to a woman and then compete against other women. That is something altogether different and should not be acce

What's wrong with what this commenter said? So we downvote opinions we don't like? What happened to the free exchange of ideas? HN comments section apparently is becoming a echo chamber and quickly losing all relevance.

Ideas are just starting points from which one eventually pivots to a compelling business model backed by evidence collected from talking to potential customers. If one does not talk to customers or pivot, and simply cranks away on their ori

For those caught up in what I think is a cause-de-jour, income inequality, I'll pose these two questions: 1. Is anyone worse off because Mark Zuckerberg is very rich? 2. If policies to reduce income inequality made the poor worse off,

I think we have our answer. From the study: Finally, the strongest predictors of upward mobility are measures of family structure such as the fraction of single parents in the area. As with race, parents' marital status does not matter

I love how you told everyone what a wonderful and caring person you are. And then slammed engineers. Well played. Next time I'd advise telling your story and avoid the temptation to smear an entire profession.

This "inequality" stuff is really getting annoying. The poor in Chile are far better off than other countries in the region, but because the rich are also richer somehow inequality is all that matters to some. In fact, the wikiped

To naked short sell, someone has to be willing to buy from you a stock you neither own nor have borrowed. I think if they want to do that, they should be allowed to. Despite what a dumb idea that is.

I am an email first person. What I find funny is people who want something from me, and don't email me, and then get mad when I don't respond quickly using their preferred method.
