I worked on a project where we used magic links (using Firebase) for users to checkin at an event using an app. It was a disaster. For a lot of users the link didn't open in the app the way it was supposed to. Another surprisingly larg

My first time firing a shotgun I was surprised it didn't sound anything like the video games I grew up playing (Doom, Duke Nukem, etc). In games they have a bassy boom with a lot of reverb while in reality it's a loud crack. At le

A lot of the insight in this paper seems pretty obvious when given any thought. > Households that leave harbinger zip codes tend to go to other harbinger zip codes. Since they also claim that house prices in harbinger zip codes increase

A home warranty was included with a home I purchased back when it was a buyers market. I did end up using it to replace an entire AC unit. Fortunately the process was surprisingly smooth. They required me to pay a few fees out of pocket, in

I used an Atom for a while, which had a ridiculously small 2.4" screen. One thing I realized is that the smaller you make the screen, the thicker you have to make the device in order to provide space for the battery. While a smaller sc

It takes discipline to keep a wallet safe. I used to discount the risk of that, but over time I feel less and less confident in the average person's ability to not lose a wallet or have it hacked. To me Coinbase feels more like bank. O

I've also noticed they've added ads after a video ends, even when autoplay is off. Annoying, but it makes sense to show ads while browsing for the next video to watch.

The inscriptions are interesting. The one that reads "Dedicated with love to the memory of Alan (Alan) Hutton" reminds me that it has no understanding of what parentheses mean in a name on the inscription.
