I mean those 1st party integrations directly listed in WeChat services page are probably good examples of services that "feel" nice to interact, because they are used by millions of people everyday and they are need to optimized a

You can buy plane tickets, railway tickets, book hotels on wechat via popular 3rd party booking platforms. I think there are first party integrations in wechat app, go to Me - Pay and Services, you can see a bunch of them.

Typically you don't need to worry about leap seconds on server because AWS or GCP will help you handle it. You just need to read the docs to understand their behavior. Some will smooth it out for you, some will jump for you. It would b

It depends on what you consider as core product for Google. For some people (consumer), it would be Google Search, it is a piece of software, so in that sense Google is a tech company because its main product is Google Search. However, for

I think your main thesis is that "AI of today and foreseeable future is not going to solve them end to end." My belief is that we can't solve them today (agree with you), but we can solve them in foreseeable future (in 3 year

Yes. Those products you listed are not in tech industries by my definition as well. You are right. Google ads is in ad industry. Uber is in transport industry. Amazon is in electronic commerce industry. I'm glad that we understand that

I have to clarify that my statement don't apply to software engineers who are not working in tech companies or tech industries. I usually call them IT instead of tech. Wrote more in my blog post: https://16x.engineer/20

Funny enough, now I write better code than I used to thanks to AI because of two reasons: - AI naturally writes AI code that is more organized and clean (proper abstraction, no messy code) - I've recognized that, for AI to write code o

Honestly this post makes Google sound like the new IBM. Very corporate. "Hear from our CEO first, and then our other CEO in charge of this domain and CTO will tell you the actual news." I haven't seen other tech companies wri

Seems like 404 is unexpected behaviour, according to the maintenance notes: > While some features will remain operational, like installations and search, minor inefficiencies may occur.

Aider / Cline are known to eat tokens for lunch, because of the large context and system prompts they use. The tool that I built doesn't have this problem, I haven't exceed $10/month on Claude 3.5 Sonnet. You can give it

I would be surprised if at any point in time there are more than 5 LLM providers who are widely considered premium (close to SOTA in my interpretation).

I think the problem is it's hard to monetize such a piece of software. It would need to come from either open-source or sponsored by big tech company. Maybe MCP is a step in that direction? https://www.anthropic.com/new

Yes. I built a tool exactly for this use case: a coding task that requires context from multiple files and edit across multiple files. Do let me know what you think. https://prompt.16x.engineer/

Yeah that's what I had in mind from the very beginning. In fact I built a tool [1] that applies this principle for semi automated coding. It uses LLMs for generating code, but leave the context selection and code editing for human to c

Yeah Mac eats Windows on running LLMs. My app does support Windows though, you can connect to OpenAI, Claude, OpenRouter, Azure and other 3rd party providers. Just running SOTA LLMs locally can be challenging.

I built a custom GUI for coding tasks specifically, with built-in code context management and workspaces: https://prompt.16x.engineer/ Should work well if you have 64G vRAM to run SOTA models locally.
