I wonder how the legalities of working more than 1 (remote) job are. You'd think you'd run into some conflicting clauses in your employment contracts.

Rust-Analyzer on VS-Code is probably the best development experience I've ever had. Makes me want to gouge my eyes out whenever I have to use something else.

You are confused. The distributed ledger described in whitepaper is valuable when you need to form a consensus about past events under dispute (or which could possible be disputed). Also the ponzi-space of cryptocurrency / blockchain i

"How are they winning?", like what? Look at the maps. Ukraine has lost substantial land mass to Russia. And it is the Russians that see Ukrainians as part of the same people.

NATO (US) - Russia deterrence model rests on nuclear deterrence, and most importantly on the fact that Russia can guarantee MAD in retaliation against US because they have a huge stock pile of them. This deterrence model is not itself chang

This is the only "podcast" I've bothered to actually "listen" to (I read the transcripts). Each episode is very informative often about several subjects.

The issue is about the # of new developers joining the development if you look at the Linux kernel development as an organization, not about # of non-merge changesets merged.

The issue with Kernel development is that it's a dying profession. Nobody is interested in it. That's why there's an attempt with sexy new language, to bring more developers to work on it. Probably less than 30 people in the

I don't think people should be looking at adding another language to the kernel, mostly because every OS build on it has been a disaster. We just need approach and definition for operating systems.

If Youtube exposed a real public API it'd be 1 week when someone makes a far better front to it. That's why it's not exposed.

If we do not have enough deterrence to maintain territorial integrity (as of now) against Russian military aggression (by virtue of the cost model being broken), then what is going to deter Russia from dragging us into a localized conflict

I believe our military is strong enough to offer deterrence from Russian military aggression without NATO, so I don't see the point of NATO based on this belief. I mean even NATO hawks believe this so its kind of a ridiculous situation

I don't personally like the idea of joining a military alliance with state like Turkey in it. I mean, Greece and Turkey are both in NATO but Greece tries to maintain "rough" parity with materiel with Turkey for obvious histor

Russian army has been revealed to be a joke, so I don't see the why all the rush to join NATO because of their fiasco in eastern Ukraine. We bordered USSR and they had a military that went toe-to-toe with the Nazi Germany; USSR militar

It is a very cool abstraction that makes lots of things possible, which are (to my understanding) impossible to do in other languages without the explicit safety contract. Like this: https://www.infoq.com/news/2021/

Trying to write your code such that it can work with arbitrary data and arbitrary amounts of it is a step towards the holy grail I think. Then you get to use fuzzer & Arbitrary for basically what is a coverage guided property based test

This seems obviously correct to me and it's still not appreciated by many developer teams. Then there's the world of behavior / property / invariant -based testing which slims down your tests to essentially data generati

This is false. 100% UT in a dynamically typed language like JS is no assurance of anything really. You need to cover all the observable behavior in any case (no matter the type of language) to get any kind of assurance. UT cannot deliver th
