They certainly allow you to learn. I'm able to tell my manager I'll spend a sprint(s) tinkering with build performance or reading stuff that's relevant to our work (i.e. the Goog SRE book).

I've only read the link and the sample pages slightly, but this feels hyperfocused on advancing your career. Somehow the existence of books like these makes me depressed... is that rational? I just picture the future of tech being all

One offtopic comment from me, sorry-- I took one look at the page, it said "pdf" with an open button, and I hit the back button... Am I the only paranoid one??

I have no management experience, but I wonder if there's a certain level up the ladder where one person just can't do most/all things well? There are so many problems and teams, even being accountable to a fraction of them wo

I'm wary about even Googling it because I swear I heard you are tracked in the US for even Googling it, or downloading it, or even reading on Wikipedia. It sounds laughable when I type it to be honest, but hey. I feel I have better hil

I didn't see other responses like mine, so I wanted to share that "why" was really important for me, not just how. I was afraid of disconnecting, and I wanted a really good reason. Well, recently my headaches and itches have

On everything related to data privacy and Big Tech, I must admit I'm mentally blocked on one point. How do most people think of this? I'm not sure most Americans, for example, know or care about this topic. There are broadly relat

I'm guessing 2012 because I thought that was the year they stopped doing brain teaser interviews, which were very controversial at the time. Googling it now, the exact year is fuzzy -- like, they originally stopped in 2006, but onl

I guess one of the other ways is: "have a phone because it's required for website accounts and work -- don't do anything on it." Talk to your friends and family in person, which is _kinda_ arguably healthier. No social m

It's not the same, but the most recent games aren't total disasters IMO. I liked the character story quests in SW: The Old Republic, for example -- Jedi Knight's storyline was enjoyable. (Plus the game is f2p.)
