They did trademark it in the US and EU. Then Apple removed it from all countries because someone trademarked it in China - this is obviously Apple's fault, not the business. If they removed it from only China, no one would care.

It's not about the security, it's about preventing side-channel leaks of the plain password (e.g. incorrectly sanitized logs or buffer overflows). Having a data breach of your site-specific hash is much better than leaking the use
