It would be interesting to see what digital photos would look like if it was nothing but you and the subject and the lens, with no intermediate processing. Without Samsung drawing a fake moon and whatnot.

Point out the underperformance of unions and the response is always yeah but they got us weekends off 100 years ago. What have you done for me lately?

Everyone leaves out a large cohort - people that believe it, but don't want the solutions you're selling. We typically put forth constructive solutions like nuclear, which get shouted down / laughed out of the room instantly.

You're right, "mediocre" is too negative a connotation. "Acceptable" is better. That's the feeling the name gives me. A phone that will be just fine.

It's not a good name. It's a Dutch company - did they not understand that "fair" can mean "mediocre" as well as "just"?

I just went and read about that and now I’m never complaining about anything ever again.

In what way is any of that actionable? Are there specific recommendations besides "eat right, exercise, don't smoke"? Sounds like something that could just induce anxiety.

I'm thinking this might be healthier. When I was a kid it seemed normal that money in the bank would accrue real interest. Now that mine's doing that, something just feels right about it, like things are back in balance. Take my m

Cough medicines don't work either. Expectorants don't expectorate, suppressants don't suppress. (Why they're both sometimes in the same bottle is beyond me, but they don't do anything, anyway)

It's a shame IKEA doesn't make the Jerker desk anymore. I have one, and it's probably the greatest desk ever made. You can configure it as a standing desk by unbolting and repositioning the desk on the legs.

The inaccurate part of the movie is that all that stuff worked. In real life, what "ended" the pandemic was a combination of mother nature and the human willingness to accept a lost cause and move on.

I wonder if "Contagion" was propaganda. It really made me believe that if a SARS pandemic ever happened, a bunch of incredibly competent scientists and government agents would swoop in and save us all. The "Olympus Has Fallen
