Come now, this could be verified with evidence. I'm sure these actions exist in a database and email trail. Musk could release the evidence himself, or use an actual journalistic process and have someone impartial review it. But there

This is why I often booked using airbnb.com.au - Australian consumer protection laws mandated that Airbnb had to show you the REAL end price upfront. It's been that way for five+ years, as well.

Another plug for Volumio. I added smart features to my hifi system with it. Very reliable and great Spotify integration.

The fact that Coca-Cola sponsors a climate conference is crazy to me. That a UN climate conference NEEDS a corporate sponsor is also ridiculous.

Anecdotally, I purchased a surface pro 7 and the ridiculous number of unexpected automatic updates and reboots without warning (overnight) lost me a bunch of data. Luckily it wasn't work related, but it has continued my deep-seated hat

The incredulous of people commenting on this kinda astounds me. The people who made adtech what it is today are your (our) colleagues, friends, bosses, peers. This didn't happen by itself.

In many places in the US, and indeed other countries, the "stop line" can be worn almost completely away, or a road just repaved may not yet have one.

That is HN. Anecdotes taken as gospel. Comments written as absolutes. Simple tech blog posts that turn into 500 off-topic-comment threads. It's wonderfully useless at times.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was thoroughly in the "screw Microsoft" camp until about 2018, when I thought they were on the way to redeeming themselves. Unfortunately they've continued their prior "hatefully co

I was recommended The Comfort Book by Matt Haig. It didn't and doesn't solve all problems - but it helps.

This is pretty funny from an EU employees perspective..."unlimited" == ~3 weeks?! Our guaranteed 5 weeks + ~10 public holidays is better than "unlimited" PTO.

This is the approach taken in Star Trek it seems. Very few personal possessions in general. Anything you want can be replicated for free. Obviously on the starships, personal furniture isn't encouraged though.

Well, this was in Australia. The settlement payouts were orders of magnitude larger in the USA! I keep no money in major banks, not just because they are largely morally bankrupt though. :)

I also bought a VW Golf GTD and ended up having to sell it right as the scandal was heating up. Apart from the ~$10k I lost and the betrayal by VW executives, I was also upset that the car I bought to try and be a little bit eco-friendly wa
