What's your process like after that screening measure? Because to me, that's honestly trivial, and a lot nicer than dealing with an extended (8+ hours) homework problem as an introduction to a company's hiring process.

FizzBuzz? I find it hard to believe that FizzBuzz is being used as an actual screen, because realistically you'd have too many people passing. If anything, the interviews I've been on have been four or five 45-minute whiteboard se

That's an entirely reasonable assignment that I would accept doing. Unfortunately, there are definitely way more time consuming projects being handed out regularly.

It wasn't really 'trivia'. It was several hours of difficult problem solving without reference material, given access only to a whiteboard and a judge. The studying that would have led to a success: * Memorizing a significant

Initially I didn't study, then I failed to land a great job that I easily would have acquired with some dedicated studying.

It's really unfortunate to see how common it is to look down on people who spend their time differently. There are some tasks I wish to undertake that likely mean I would have to leave the office job experience for about a year. Given

Not if that biology student wants a decent life. There's not much money in science. It pays much, much more to be a mediocre dev.

Moderation is usually a thought-terminating cliche. Whenever there's a conversation among of those looking to examine the details, someone is around to dismiss the inquiry with "everything in moderation".

There's no reason for them to assume it has anything to do with outsourcing housekeeping. Quite simply, an intact marriage and children are likely to provide men with the drive to produce for the sake of his family.

I like having 1-2 days per week available to me to work from home. I don't think I'd take a job offer without this as an option anymore. My quality of life has improved significantly with it.

I'm someone who cycles over my thoughts for long periods of time. Interviews really don't capture this at all, but it's one of my strongest intellectual assets.
