Honestly, as someone who is starting to go long-sighted, this is tempting me towards getting a 13 pro (or Pixel 6 i it is similarly good). I frequently find myself using my phone camera to zoom in on ridiculously small text on things, but m

Likewise. I'm in the market for a new phone. I want to get something top of the line and then keep it for at least 5 years, so good updates etc. But I have serious issues with both Google and Apple at this point. For me it isn't r

That was a great episode of Jim Al-Khalili's "The Life Scientific" which is worth listening to. It's an excellent series for anyone interested in science and engineering, he does a great job of showing just how varied sc

It's interesting to hear that. Here in the UK I find GMaps way better than Apple maps in a number of ways. Apple maps has a frustrating habit of sending you to anything but the proper entrance to large venues or places of interest, it&

This is kind of my point really. All those various "playful" mac designs were loved or hated by people, but they were interesting enough for people to have opinions about. Now the only aesthetic that anyone goes for is a tedious,

I really miss the playfulness and willingness to experiment in some of the old designs. Even the G4 cube was a really interesting idea, even if it had issues. As much as the asthetic doesn't appeal to me, I love that a lot of gamers mo

Yep, we've just added a new 1.4GW interconnect between Norway and the UK. I believe it's the longest undersee interconnect in the world. Hopefully more will follow, I think more interconnects over greater distances are really impo

Yep. We did our own painting and I think we made that mistake. Used the one-coat stuff that seems to be more "rubbery" and you end up with a thick layer that will just peel off once it gets damaged. Lesson learned.

My only issues with command strips has been that I've had the paint come off the wall. This seems to be a problem with some types of paint but not others, where they don't bond as well with the wall/undercoat. Obviously not a

Does Google actually have senior management? It just all seems to be random teams running around chucking ideas around and then sodding off after they've screwed it up. The place just seems to be in disarray at the top levels.
