Whisper transcription is extremely good. For most real-time transcription tasks I do think it performs as well or better than the average human at this point. In this case it sounds like the task is more active and involves actually think

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I didn’t realise it was such an active task. Sounds like it’s much more complex than just transcription.

> The service costs money. It is not automagic speech to text, but rather there is often (usually?) an actual human typing it in. I would wager whisper is more accurate than said human, and definitely cheaper.

It’s sad that he’s left Nomadlist to rot. There is currently no way to see any billing info, no way to close your account, zero support, and the site is a broken ad-infested mess in multiple places. We had a similar experience with Remote O

In my experience ChatGPT seems particularly bad at Elixir, presumably because there is a comparative lack of published code and discussion about it.

Nice. I found you can beat this by picking the word least likely to be selected by a language model, because it seems like the alternative choices are generated by an LLM. “Pick the outlier” is the best strategy. This is presumably also a s

MacBooks now apparently default to character variant selection rather than repeating when you hold down a key. This is a nightmare when navigating in vim.

I would imagine the prevalence of microplastics in developing countries is just as high (or higher) though. So the GDP argument isn’t particularly supportive of a microplastics explanation.

It becomes super valuable when the error rate is lower than humans though. I think this will be the main driver for applications like this.

If you like watching water flowing uphill, I highly recommend paying this spot in Taiwan a visit [1]. It’s a very clever and convincing optical illusion. 1. https://eng.taiwan.net.tw/m1.aspx?sNo=0002016&id=A12-00284

This is a cool trick. The email is in cleartext in the source, meaning mailto works and copy-paste works. But most scrapers probably skip the .svg file.

One approach I like is to relax and read the book quickly the first time, don’t take notes or anything. If it’s good, read it again (and again periodically). If not, don’t. This gives natural spaced repetition on the good stuff, and also yo
