I think the bike market is already in the process of being disrupted by online sales. Many shops are struggling or have already closed. There are several successful online-only brands in the mountain bike world such as Commencal, YT, and Ca

I don't think this a fair analogy, or that it plausibly explains the wage gap between programmers and doctors. I'm sure doctors discuss the merits of different medical techniques at conferences. In a similar "emergency"

Supply and demand. Most companies are willing to accept some false negatives in the hiring process to avoid the false positives.

> Scientifically the calorie intake is more important than the what (for losing weight) This has been the assumption but there's reason to believe it might be more complicated than that. Gary Taubes addresses the subject here: http

I thought Hayek was fairly influential in his time? He won a Nobel prize and had a significant impact on European politics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Hayek

Taxi drivers more likely to die from homicide than a traffic accident! That's shocking. I wonder what explains this. Is it armed robberies gone wrong?

Can anyone comment on how and why this price increase happened? Has supply not kept up with demand?

I've heard this was more of a psychological "target fixation" effect, unless I misunderstand the scenario you describe.

That's interesting. In mountain biking it is taught that must lean the bike to turn properly at speed. Some even go a step further and say lean the bike but not your body. I was pondering the physics of why it works the other day but d

LDL is still "bad" and HDL is still "good", but that means in your blood, not your diet. The evidence linking dietary cholesterol and saturated fat to cardiovascular disease is weak. Dr. Peter Attia provides an excellent

Not sure why you say HDL has no effect. Ratios of "bad" to "good" markers have been shown to be much better predictors of risk than any one number on its own, even LDL. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRF

I see. I think I would be just as infuriated with Apple if they upgraded my OS behind my back. Walling off the app store doesn't imply they can install software without my consent.

That's true, but still less annoying than when I walked up to my PC to find a brand new OS I didn't ask for. I really wish there was a viable alternative to windows for gaming because I don't want to reward unethical behavior
